Common Questions
How long does a full house rewire take?
A typical three-bedroom house takes around five to ten working days depending on size, access and whether you are living in during the work. We agree the schedule with you up front and work room by room so the disruption moves through the house rather than hitting all of it at once.
Do I need to move out during a rewire?
Most customers stay in. We isolate one area at a time so you keep power and lighting elsewhere in the house, and we make sure you have a working kitchen and at least one working socket circuit each evening. Empty properties are quicker and cheaper, so if you are between tenants or pre-move it is worth timing it that way.
How do I know if my house needs rewiring?
The strongest signals are a fuse box with rewireable fuses rather than MCBs, rubber, fabric or lead-sheathed cable, sockets mounted in skirting boards, and no earth at the lighting points. Age alone is a rough guide — most properties last wired before the mid-1970s are due. An EICR will tell you definitively, and its findings feed straight into a rewire quote.
Will I get certification after a rewire?
Yes. A full rewire is notifiable work, so you receive an Electrical Installation Certificate and we notify Building Control on your behalf through our NAPIT registration. Keep it safe — you will be asked for it when you sell, remortgage or renew insurance.
